When you say adjt. do you mean Adjudant in french or adjudant in english, as in the corps adjt? If so, he would not have anything to do with my course except on the admin side.. high up. Planning stuff.
oops.. double post
Depends on what you consider a "good" tank.so even today this tank is still a prittey good tank
I'd say, with current armour upgrades and current Fire control..
It still makes a decent medium tank, it's not a heavy tank like an M1 or Leo2.
It's long in the tooth, but to be really fair.. I don't see how it's "obsolete"
You tell me, do you think a 40+ Ton armoured vehicle with a 105mm main gun, fully stabilized, all weather, night/day shoot on the move capability with thermal sights and laser rangfinder, fire control computer to compensate for distance, target speed, wind ect..
Not to mention that it can do all of this around 65km/hr on good roads.
Do you think it's useless????
It's a tank, it can use hesh, heat, ect..
Anybody with any sense knows, old or not.. it's still a weapon, and any weapon is a threat.

Ummmm.. no..
It would probably take 2 or 3 rounds from a 105mm to have a chance at damaging either of those 2 tanks.
By that time, they'd get off at least 1 round, and that would most likely finish it.
Then again, Shermans used to take on Tigers.. so..
Tactics, Tactics, Tactics...
Now, 3 Leos on an M1.. he could get into trouble..
In a fantasy scenario, and again depending on other factors.. let's say the M1 destroys 1 Leo, maybe a mobility kill on another one , before the M1 gets taken out.
(By that time, the M1 could have been hit 4-6 times or more.. that should be enough)
Remember, a round does not have to penetrate an armoured vehicle to get a "Kill"
Enough force can produce spalling and other concusive effects that can kill/injure crew and damage/destroy or knock out a vehicles fighting ability.

so dosnt the canadians have other MBT's beside's from the Leo1's
Actually, one of the biggest bonuses when painting equipment is heat. Tan absorbs a lot less heat than green or black. I think that the Norwegians did some tests on the CV90. AFAIK there was a 10 degrees C difference in heat inside the vehicle after a few hours in the sun. That's stuff that really matters!
Dust will make equipment stick out less, but a basic desert tan helps. Look at this car, notice how it blends pretty good, whereas the green equipment that is strapped on sticks out.

Why change panzers if judean shermans with 105mm can destroj soviet tanks can also ze german Leopard 1
Had an interesting conversation today.
The Tanks may look *slightly* different from the typical pics posted here.
The Leos comming in are very well protected indeed.
Can't wait.![]()
guest.. I can imagine what that conversation entailed and I am sure they will be quite safe over there (http://www.strathconas.ca/images/armour/leotop.jpg). Heard talk of preps for replacement tankers after the Stratchonas get their time with them... I am hoping to be one of them.
