Just moved, insurance kind of slipped the net after other bills, the other big stuff such as tv and appliances were all covered individually so it was not seen as a priority.

I think its mainly cosmetic, the plastics around the bottom. If I can get the battery out then that problems sorted, I can get the plastics either replaced or just very well fixed and then maybe whack a battery grip on for extra protection and to tidy it up. No resale value now but I'd never have sold it. Think at the least I'll get a service aswell, although all appears to be working internally, you never know.

My stepdads registered as a pro with Nikon so gonna give it to him to have a look at and make some enquirys for me.

Does anyone know of a decent make of 35mm scanners? I was looking at one of these but would like to know if anyone has had any experience with good/bad makes. I've got loads of old pictures I'd like to convert to digital but at the mo I'm restricted to scanning the prints. Ive got an insert for negatives on my flat bed scanner but the results aren't astonishing and the colours come out nothing like the prints...
Pic related its a scan of Hoary Marmot picture I took in Canada..

You get what you pay for with film scanners.
I checked around for some reviews and that one seems to be pretty good but I don't have any personal experience with it.

I have used the Nikon Coolscans, they are fantastic but very expensive.
