Norway, a while ago:
I think that's from the Aquarium of the Pacific.
WOW Sabre. I would say find some more foreground in the pic next time... but its seems pretty desolate. You got any pics of you/your gear/shelter out in the open?
Used a Hilleberg Nallo 3 man tent. You can see how the snow was leveled off by digging blocks out which were formed into a windbreak. The tent was put up and the 'porch' area was dug out to make a cold trap and also make it possible to sit on the end of the sleeping platform to cook etc. Far more comfortable than camping normally!
I've got a video showing the tent in some conditions out there. The area was the Hardangervidda plateau. It's the same place that the two skiers from Scotland tragically died earlier on this year. It's not very harsh if you have the kit. For reference, the ski tracks you can see in one of the above pics are marked by cut branches, and are quite well compacted through use. The Norwegians tend to go hut to hut on the tracks with minimal kit, but I went off the track for a few days to escape the 'crowds'.
good skills Sabre. SOme useul tips there. Thanks for sharing.
A photo I took in Latvia. One might perhaps not think of the Baltic republics as having nice beaches, but they do. When Soviet Union still existed some cities on the Baltic coast were popular resort towns, such as Pärnu in Estonia.

Very good tent, but digs a rather deep hole in the wallet![]()
Great stuff Sabre. Looks to be similar to where they filmed the planet Hoth scenes in Star Wars (somewhere in Scandinavia). I'll never be able to afford one of those tents.
Some pics from today.

Looks hot because it is hot.

Me and Juan.
I suck at taking pictures plus I left my everything with Juan when I went deep into the crowd as she was happy on the perimiter
How'd you enjoy our state, Boone? Nice and warm.
Slightly warm, yes.
Had a great time and the people were great; friendly, gracious-to-a-fault and sympathetic to a poor Canadian lad and his friend.
And I'll know better and rent a car next time. California is not exactly "pedestrian-friendly" Or Palm Springs isn't, at least.
Awesome fast-food tho!!
