The new mortarsections are now operational in Helmand.
Each section got two 120mm and three 60mm mortars.

Excellent. Though, I still think we should be looking at a long-barrelled and turreted system with a direct fire option for our heavy mortars.

    Will not happen.
But it's planned that these 120mm are to be build into M113's and Piranha's together with Soltams Cardom automonous mount. The current sections are just an interim solution.

About bloody time. To me has it been quite a scandal, that it took so long time to get new set of mortars in the field, after they retired the old ones. For years was danish troops with out one of the most basic support weapons, while the Army fooled around with their gold plated pet projects.

The Danish Battlegroup received the first 20 of 40 MRAPs today, on loan from the US Army. They are to be used for troop transport as a supplement to their other vehicles.

In addition to these new vehicles, the M113 has been upgraded on 32 different points, among other things better armour under the bottom. All M113s should be through the upgrade by the end of the year. Once updated, they are believed to have the same mine protection as the CV9035.

Over the last couple of days, the Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has been visiting various Danish units in Lashkar Gah, MOB Price, Camp Bastion and the Patrol Base Line. He also attended the official hand over of the MRAPs, as well as meeting with the chief of Regional Command South West, Major General Mills.

Probably because it works... to be honest I reckon a fair few uniforms have theres far too high.
you may notice the Danish body armour comes with shoulder soft armour, maybe the standard pocket config. does not work for them.

although, I think Fisker sums it up ..............
