Hey Chen Can you tell me how to remove the piston from the charging handle on my AK, I have an upgraded piston i want to install on it. I can see the threads in the little eyelet but cant seem to move it. It looks as tho a pin of some sort may hold it in place. Help me if you can.

for all you 1911 freaks out there, i'm lookin in a few weeks before i quit my job to bastardize a Springfield Armory GI 1911 while i still have money lol.

I'm gonna keep the sights stock, possibly get some of that crap u use to dot your sights(sorry...i've had a few tonights.").

This is gonna be my main carry weapon, right now i carry a stock SA GI. I'm lookin to put on some ambi-safety's, a beaver tail a new hammer, a skeleton trigger and maybe even a wilson combat speed chute . a full lenght guide rod and some hogue grips.

Any of you gun guru's know any good decent priced manufacturers i can get some parts from, i am planning on all wilson combat parts, but that may run me a pretty penny. any advicse would helps.'

its eaither this, or a sweet pimped out SA ifound at a local shop that actually has all wilson combat parts on it. but i think it has bomar sights and i hate those thigns.

    Punchinout,
I've considered putting Bomar sights on my 1911a1. My uncle has them on his S&W M19 .357 (it was his service arm when he was a cop, he's now retired), and liked them.

What's your reason for disliking them? Perhaps I'll consider something else.

Personally, ive never had too much luck with BoMar style sights. maybe its just eh way i shoot...i learned on combat sights, big fan of Novak style lomount sights. Seems like silhouette shooters or ultra-crazy pistol marksman(like match type stuff) use the BoMars more, i have no use for 'em.

Anyways...i'm actually gettin a Sig 220. I found one for a awesome price and i need to diversify my pistol collection. Picking it up on Friday. I have a AR build to spend money on then i'll probably move onto a custom build 1911.

I like the Lo Mount Novak sights. They are good to go. My GI internals are all Ed Brown. I had some Cynlinder and Slide parts in there but swapped it out.

In the almost-20 years I've had my 1911A1, I really haven't done a lot with it, other than put a Wilson 3.5 trigger and extended safety on it, plus sights (King's). I'd like to replace some of the internals, in addition to the sights, when I return to the US in April.

    Looks nice.
I checked out the custom full-sized 1911A1 on their site. $850 PLUS the gun is a little outa my range of affordability right now, but it looks like a nice pistol.

do you want to refinish stock or metal or both?

Casey makes a kit for the wood, I believe.

For metal, you can hot blu, cold blue, baked on finish, or air dry finish.

Yeah, for right now I'm just thinking about refinishing the stock, because it looks awful as it is. Thanks for the info. Have you used any of these products? They seem to have 2 types of products available, a good lot of them seem to be Oil based, and then they have a wax one which says it won't rub off like the Oil ones.

I just got an AK-47 kit about a month ago. I stripped the laminated stock with zip strip I bought at Home Depot. Then I sanded it with 150, 220, 320 400. Then I used a tung oil based oil finish that I rubbed on. After a few coats of that I used a spray on polyurethane as a finish coat. Afterall, this is an AK.... The stock looks better now than it did when it left the factory and we aren't talking about a hand rubbed English Walnut stock on a high end hunting rifle.....

I liked a oil stock best, but have used all their products, Also you can strip the stock, any good wood working shop/supplies will work, re-stain the wood (maybe), oil or wax, or a more lasting coating that dries hard.

Edited to add, you can take the stock to a wood worker, and ask what would really bring out the natural beauty of the wood, if it has it.

This is why im refinishing it.. the front isn't quite as bad as the back.. But it looks bad cause its pretty stained with oil and has no finish at all.

I plan on getting some one in wood working to look at the stock, but from what you guys know, are there any stains that would make it look better.

Also several sites seem to say that using Easy-Off, Heavy Duty Oven Cleaner works well for stripping the wood cause it gets off oil and greese too. This seem valid?

    Thanks for all the help.
