Brownells have been around a long time and are really an excellent source. I always assume that everyone has heard of them. Their catalogs are excellent.

Brownells is good. But try not to place big orders. They've always forgot to add something in my order or added something similar, but not the right part when I've made big orders.

That has not been my experience. I guess it might be what you consider big. I can say I was sent a letter from Mr. Brownell thanking me for my order a couple of times. It is a very top notch company.

I agree that Brownell are proably the best shopping place for your 191 needs...

T his is how i would build my next 1911....full size or commnader, commander would be without the light rail...

Caspian race ready Recon with carbon steel slide...

add the build in plunger tube,
cut beaver tal for Ed Brown profile
    fit slide to frame
    front strap checkering
    install the 38 super ejector
    and tactical magwell
dovetail cut the slide for Novak sights
    bevel the corners
    front serration
    serrated flat top
    Recon radius cut
    Slanted rear serratiaon

Get the 10-8 trigger and rear sight
Trijicon front sight and roll pin the sight

Cylinder and slide trigger kit for a consistant 4LBS pull

    ed Brown beaver tall
Ed Brown Flat main spring housing
    Ed Brown tactical ambi safety
    extended mag release

    Nighthawk slide relese

Bar-Sto drop in barrel with match bushing
    16LBs spring
standard recoil plug and spring plunger

    VZ grip

    all the small parts----Brownell

after all parts are fitted, send the gun to get Ion bond finish.

    but that is just me...

But I will most likely go and buy a Springfield MC Operator and go from there..

Sadly, I have only one right now, mostly going to buy a Springfield MC operator by the end of this year and have a lot of work being done on it. this will be my loight rail gun...

and possibily a SW commnader with that Scandian frame as my CCW gun further down the line.

Have picked up a tired and used Ruger 10/22 as a learning project - tried to keep it as factory looking as possible. Here are the results:

Factory stock - cut, bedded and refinished. Barrel is free floated 3" from the receiver
XS rear ghost ring and front post sights
    Power Custom extended bolt handle
    Volquartsen Automatic Bolt Release
    Power Custom Shim Kit
Clark Custom Deluxe Drop-In Trigger Kit (trigger, hammer, sear).
    Tactical Solutions extended magazine release.
    Truck bed liner textured buttstock.

Work left to be done: parkerize steel parts, paint all metal in "park gray" color. Fix a crack on a stock and apply truck bedding coat on the handled parts.

Overall, very happy with the project - I rapid fired magazine into a 4x8" orange "vitals" square of a target at 30 yards with ghost ring sights. The extended magazine release makes magazine changes a matter of opening the palm of the shooting hand (or giving it a middle finger).

It is funny, but living next door to Russia, I am forced t buy AK spares for my project in the USA And in this relation I have a question: would, say, AK47 bolt and carrier assembly purchased online in the USA come to EU without troubles? Who is controlling movements of firearm spareparts between the countries?
