I'm looking at different sources of FAL parts now (DSA, Enterprise, Sarco, and gunthings.com), and comparing prices. I'll tell y'all one thing that sucks, regarding the necessity to include 7 US made parts: amongst the parts listed as those that meet the criteria, you can get great deals on imported parts, but the US-made parts are expensive. Example: for the gas piston, Sarco sells them for $6, used and in good condition. However, if you want that part to comply with the US legal requirements, it costs $40 for one made in the US of A. Same with the charging handle. $10 at gunthings.com, and $39.95 for the American-made part, at DSA. Anything that is American-made, and is considered one of the seven required parts, is rediculously expensive. It's like they know they've got us by the balls, so the squeeze as hard as they can!

Sorry for my cynicism, but how does a FAL with an American-made gas piston, vs. one made in Belgium or Austria, contribute to public safety?

If you use a US made lower aren't you safe then ?

The lower (stripped) I've bought is an Imbel (Brazilian). Paid $60 for it. The same, if US-made, runs $129.95.

Oi back from the sandbox, on R&R from Iraq until Saturday then it's back for another 6 months. Here's my build that I finished the 3rd day I was back. I already had all the parts and bought the rifle the day after I landed. Parts as follows:

This is my first AR build and I'm quite proud of it, did it all myself in the garage. I figured go big or go home, I won't be back in the states until Christmas, and I wanted to get my project of the way before the annointed one goes bonkers and pulls a 1994.

I've been into guns since I was nine. I haven't found anything better than these weapons. AK-47, Barrett 50 cal., L85A2, L96 Arctic warfare, Browning 50 cal. Machine gun. Oh yeah and there are many different copies of the L96 so don't get mixed up.

A kid is not a terrorist, Mine, both received the presidential award for academic excellent(more than once), have owned their own firearms at seven years old, and are respected by other adults, especially their teachers. Even more important by men who I greatly respect.

Your opinion in my humble opinion is BS.

Also my kids have been shooting all their lives, both started reloading at 9 year old, besides driving vehicles. (off road).

Maybe your parents never pottied trained you until you were over 21. That is your problem. I have met "kids" who were more mature and capable than some 35 year olds (or even older).

By all means you can take it lol. It's not "complete" quite yet. I turned in a stripped lower receiver today to a metal engraver to have some personalization done to it. Hopefully I'll be able to put up pics before I leave Saturday.
