    Default new chest webbing

hey all, i was on this topic aaaaages ago but here we go again, ive been using a SORD custom rig for a while and while its peformance in urban training is great it really fails in the bush, so im trying to decide on a new rig and have settled on 2 designs being the ausgear rifleman, and the m83 south african rig, mainly as i want a pouch for the 2lt south african waterbottles.

the only major problem with both rigs is link, as sometimes i need to carry link, but i break it into belts rather than using mags so i dont think it will be a major issue.

    firstly my sord rig:

usually also has a mini commander pannel for notebooks and cylumes.

    the rifleman: http://www.sasequip.com/Site/Products.php?ProductId=29

    and the M83: http://www.soldier2soldier.com.au/details.php?id=39&

so anyone with these rigs or just in general give me some ideas as to which one seems best.
    thanks

What best fits you and your needs is something that only you can figure out.

IM not.mil, so this may be a stupid question, when you say linked. you mean 7,62 ammo ?

yeah agreed, both are quite similar though, just wondering if anyone else owned one, and 5.56 link, i usually carry 200 on the gun in a mag, then the rest in belts of 20-30

    Aha!
I have it in the back of my mind, that there is a pouch by one of the main gear producers out there, that is a Saw pouch, with a divider in it, that allows you to use normal rifle mags. Now these mags they use of course are AR mags, but IM sure a few Steyr mags shoudl fit in there as well.
The thing is the actual pouch lid also has the ability to either open both compartments, in the case of belt ammo, or also spearate for grabbing normal rifle mags.
Ill have to do a quick check to find it.

There may be other makers out there, and I dont know how good your chances are finding that pouch in Australian camo though

ayyy, i like that a lot, gotta get SORD to make one of those, damn good idea, especially pretty much making it 2 seperate pouches for mags, i could just use a SAW/Minimi pouch but with no seperator it makes changes confusing. thanks for that

what sort of webbing you after chest vest, or belt??lot of this will depend on how much you carry ,i always made my minimi gunners carry 800-1000rds and the rest was split between the patrol...also are you always gonna be the gunner??you want something that can work as a rifleman also if it all gones pear shaped and you have to carry a rifle...how many waterbottles you carrying??E&E kit what else do you need to carry in your pouches that are mission essential..

most of the gunners in my patrol usually wore belt kit as it was the more feasible and more comfortable when carrying heavy loads although i know of a few that were wearing modified south african rigs

as you say mate my role changes situation specific, both new rigs have room for 2 liter waterbottles all i usually carry on belt anyway, what i really want to know is if the pouch on the right can hold a 100 round mag, emailed the people but havent had any response. plus i break belts so i think they should survive in the f-88 pouches as well, as for extras, e&e usually on my person somewhere and mabey a meal pouch

I was just wondering, but alot of people say they prefer the chest webbing because it is easier to carry the load, but with a 6 point harness on belt webbing wouldn't the differences be miniscule?

Also, wouldn't going to ground be an extra hassle in regards to crushing your guts, reloading and staying small?
