Wow and there I thought Kojima thought that one up in MGS-3
Apparently the game used several prototype tech which one would have thought must be fiction but turned out to be real.

The aircraft is the Mikoyan 701 which was proposed as next-generation intercepter to supplement the MiG-31 and replace the older Yak-28, MiG-25, and Tu-128 intercepters. The little know project was talked about in the mid-90's, but soon disappeared from aviation world in the late 90's or early 2000's which means it was canceled during that period.
