I'd like to go to Iran, it looks like a pretty kick arse place. Some family friends went there and recommended it - brought back some nougat stuff that tasted like ****.![]()
I have read things like "lets bomb Iran" or "Iran is next" or "Take the boys to Tehran" war calls a lot recently... obviously no invasion of Iran could be achieved without fall of Tehran... but it seems that most ppl are ignorant about this city... interestingly as oppose to most cities in Iran Tehran lacks the historical background.. actually it remained to be a mere village for most of Iran's history and while other cities showcased the valuable Persian culture nobody paid much attention to Tehran..
Today however Tehran is a different place... the biggest city in Southwest Asia with largest population (estimated 14 million during the day) and over 7 million permanent residents... Just to give an idea of what a nightmare Tehran could be for an invading force, you can compare it to Baghdad, only it's urban area is 3 times the size of Baghdad with the city size being 8 times bigger... it is covered with range of mountains all around (personally it takes 20 minutes for me to walk from my house in Tehran to a range of mountains) and elevation that goes as high as 4000 ft...
The city itself like most modern cities hosts a variety of neighbourhoods in every part.. Northern and Western parts are mostly for upper class and Southern parts are for poorer sect of the population, central and downtown are populated for businesses and offices... In this thread I will show a more mainstream picture of Tehran..
Staring from modern architecture:
while a decade ago Tehran was mostly based on double story apartments (2 or 4 large units) in suburbs and tall office apartments in central parts.. There has been enormous amount of large residential apartments built in the city which has totally changed the look of the town and Tehran's skyline.. ppl are slowly getting used to living in smaller and crowded apartments which has better security systems and parking... also a lot of semi-private (as in shared between all residents of the apartment) entertainment like indoor swimming pools, sauna, jacuzzi, gym and etc... here are some pictures from famous buildings and residential areas in Tehran:

Can't remember what it was called. I think it was green, and it came wrapped up in cloth in a wooden box.
Some parts look like Sarajevo (pre-war) while other parts like more like Kuala Lumpur and not really European imo
