This happened in 2002 in Chechnya. Two Mi-24 gunships were escorting an Mi-8 when Chechen combatants / foreign Jihadists shot down one of the Mi-24s with a Russian-made MANPADS.

And use the search function, the video has been posted many times before.

It's absolutely not a Stinger. It does look like an SA-7 to me, too.

And the CIA never helped the Taliban. The Taliban also didn't fight the Soviets, they rose up after the Soviets left and the U.S. quit caring about Afghanistan.

I wonder, are there other shoot-down vids like this, from shoulder fired devices?

BTW- I agree, definately a SA-7. Stinger is more slender in appearance and has a box-like metal plates which unfold for viewer to aim at target.

That is correct, no arguments from me on that.

This is in Chechnya, by the way. One question though, do the people in the chopper (Mi-24) survive?
Nevermind, I just found out. (The two pilots died)

Neither Afghans nor Chechens are Arabs. And during the Cold War it was the Soviet Union that supported the Arab Countries.

No. The pilot tried to land on auto rotation but failed.
