HK MP7 and FN P90 comparsion

I have asking for local LE guys-can you tell me plus and cons of MP7 in compare to P90? Friend of mine is doing comparsion of these guns for his unit, but he needs more information from anybody who works with these guns for longer time than few weeks/months during testing. No "I once read an article in airsoft magazine about P90" answers, please. Thanks to all who can help.

You get a point for originality in what is yet another attempt of PDW vs SMG thread - otherwise, there is no friend, unit or anybody doing "comparsion" of the two different weapon systems.

"Comparison for his unit"? Why don't he just call them up and see if they would send them under the guise of "evaluation before purshasing".

Or perhaps they can send them to me for testing. Honestly, I wouldn't mind.

In general, there are better options out there.... Both in equipment choices and substantial evidence to support(or not) either system as well as other systems. The internet is not a "first line" choice for intel. Especially when you're using this information as a basis for selecting something as important as a firearm. Socks or underwear, I'd take my chances, firearms. No f*cking way!!!

22.5: they do not choose via milphotos.net reviews, but the guy who test the guns,is lil bit connected with Heckler Koch,so he wants to avoid some of his maybe subjective ratings,he just wanted to compare with other users..

I know, that MP.net isnt the best palce, but it is the onyl forum I now, where are mixed Intl users, others I know are US mostly, and I dont expect many US MP7/P90 users..

These Guns have completely different applications like already mentioned. One is a SMG and the other a PDW. Only the caliber is comparable.

I see your point. Somehow "wanting to compare with the reviews of others..." sounds an awful lot like "I would like to know what everyone else approves of without doing my own trials..." General opinion is a good start when deciding which systems to test and evaluate. If that's what you mean than I guess you could feel the waters here for opinions. However, as mentioned they are different systems designed for quite different uses. That being said it appears your contact isn't entirely sure of what his/their needs are or what their requirements for a system should be.

I think that it is going to depend on what type of environment you or they will be using it in. P90'S usually are standard with 50 round mags or drums with the HK7 is usually a 20 round mag. Sure you can get larger mags but pound for pound I personally would take the P90 being the fact that it is a little better with accuracy in my opinion. Last you can go ahead and say that both are an SMG and the comaprison would have to be done by using the weapons personally, I don't know anyone that would go into battle with an untested weapon that would be suicide.

The MP7 is pretty compact also with the 40 round mag. Is the P90 really better with the accuracy? I doubt it. In my personal opinion (I shot both weapons, not much, but shot them) the MP7 is more ergonomic. But maybe that's just me. Both are great weapons, one a SMG, the other a PDW. Keep that in mind.

I too have used both, and agree with Icarus1 regarding the MP7 being a more comfortable weapon to use. I also experienced feeding problems with the FN P90 I was utilizing, the problem would accure after about 250-300(5-6 50 capacity magazines) rounds have been fired. I wrote that up to the design of the 50 round magazine, and it getting jolted around / catched a few hits while out on the training field. The P90 was otherwise a fine weapon on auto fire and would hold up well during a prolonged/sustained auto firing session.

    Added Opinion:
Oh and I found the accuracy of the two weapons to be comparable. Both met my expectations.

The last couple of posts surprise me,as I found the MP7 distinctly less comfortable to handle. I haven't had a chance to use them, but have handled both in quick succession, and formed the following impressions:

MP7: significantly lighter and more compact when the butt and foregrip are folded away, so you can wear it in a holster - but the necessity to unfold things to stand any chance of hitting anything makes it slower to get into use.

P90: bigger magazine capacity, more comfortable to hold and aim, and instantly ready - but the extra weight and bulk makes it more cumbersome to carry.

As far as the ammo is concerned, their effectiveness seems to be comparable with an edge to the 5.7mm over the 4.6mm.

In conclusion, I would rate the MP7 as being more suitable when you really don't expect its users to have to use it much, as it's less trouble to carry, but the P90 as being better if they're likely to have to use it.

P.S. if you want a companion pistol using the same ammo, the Five-seveN is available now, HK's has been delayed - they seem to be having problems with it.
