Dog mated with this cat ...

    ... so they say

MEOW-WOOF?: A Brazilian family claim their cat has given birth to kittens with dog-like traits, three months after it mated with a dog.

Owner claims kittens have dog-like traits

Brazilian student Cassia Aparecida de Souza, 18, claims her cat's offspring has been born with dog traits last Friday, three months after mating with a neighbour's dog in the Brazilian city of Passo Fundo.

Cassia, and her husband Rogerio, claim that the puppies are part of the cat, Mimi's litter of six.
They sayd that the three born with cat features died soon after birth, leaving the surviving three dog-like offsprings.

A geneticist from the Passo Fundo University plans to take blood samples from the animals to verify the claim.

The differences in the DNA between cats and dogs would make this imopossible. They are in different Genera.
In your feedback you asked that I be more specific and also about the possibility of dogs and hyenas breeding. Hyenas are not even in the same family as dogs and cannot cross with them. I have been trying to picture the agressive pit bull mating with a nervous hyena and it would make an interesting picture indeed.
The cross breeding of animals is of interest to many and I can only make a general statement about it.
The Genus and species of an animal is based partly on the ability of them to breed true; i.e. To produce fertile young. Basically only members of the same species can do this. Different species can often breed but the young are sterile hybrids.
There are two problems concerning inter breeding animals. One is that there has to be a mutual desire (so to speak) between the animals. A hyene would never come anywhere near a dog. Secondly from the standpoint of molecular biology the difference in chromosome numbers would negate any positive results from fertilization of an egg.
Hope I have given you enough information.

Thank God this is apparently a load of poop. Otherwise, I'd worry that the end times were upon us, as predicted by Bill Murray in Ghostbusters.

cause ya know......dogs and cats are new to this planet and so that is why this would just now be comeing to light.

its not like they have been around for 10s of thousands of years and just now thought to get it on.

this one is as bad as the people that trotted out the "cloned" woman but refused to let tests to be done.

This is basic biology, the chromosomes are different between the two animals making it impossible for that to happen. The same reason we can't mate with a monkey and have offspring.
