    Nice.

I have a few Mosin 1944 carbines, but when hunting I prefer the 1938 carbine as it is slightly lighter without the bayonet lugs.
They talk about the Jungle carbine model of the Lee Enfield having a bit of a kick and muzzle flash... they've never obviously fired a Mosin Nagant carbine...

Last I heard that it is confirmed it is currently being refitted with all new electronic, don't know if it's recommissioned yet though., I heard about that only this month.

And another SVT-40 next to a SKS carbine for comparison purposes.

God I love that rifle (Simonova). Easy, comfortable and probably better suited to the m43.

Hardly... According to a Sevmash press release from two weeks ago, adjustments are being made to the ship's repair schedule, after which additional work will be completed. In 2008, shipyard workers will prepare to defuel the ship's reactor core. So the mighty admiral's return is still a few years away. See the poor English translation of the press release here: http://www.sevmash.ru/?id=4314&lg=en

I fire the other day a SVT-40. It really got a kick and sometimes the bolt got jammed.

All of the firearms here are for civilian use:
Saiga semi-auto rifles (based on AK) made by Izhmash.
IZH-78 and IZH-79 (PM Makarov) gas guns for self protection.
    Khokhe rubber bullets gun.
    Udar barrel-less self defense device.
    Umarex airguns.

Russia’s border guard service celebrates 90 years

On May 28 Russia celebrates Border Guards’ Day. On this day in 1918 Sovnarkom, the Council of People's Commissars, issued a decree establishing the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) Border Guard and the Border Guard Headquarters. Border Guards’ Day was established in the Soviet Union in 1958, and in modern Russia in 1994.

Russia’s Border Guard Service units are equipped with up-to-date weaponry and vehicles. The total strength of the border guards protecting Russia’s frontiers is around 200,000 men. Every day 11,000 border details and dozens of ships, powerboats and helicopters go on duty
