The article is slightly obsolete (Pecheneg has been additionally modernized since that time and serially produced from 2001 as Pecheneg-2), nevertheless, quite qualified.
The other names of Pecheneg are 6P41 or PKP ("machine-gun of Kalashnikov for infantry"). PKM - "machine-gun of Kalashnikov modernized".
http://warfare.ru/?lang=&catid=276&linkid=2547 - characteristics of modernized version. It become heavier (8,7 kg or even 9,5 kg with new sight against 8,2 kg for early Pecheneg and 7,5 kg for PKM), however the additional barrel of PKM (3,4 kg) is unnecessary anymore. Thus, the total weight is lower (8,7 kg against 7,5 + 3,4 = 10,9 kg).
