Wodner what they regard as "comparable to the SS-18". So far the talks were only about RS-24 "replacing" SS-18, while RS-24 is not even nearly comparable.
Russia slso don't need a successor to SS-18 but a successor to SS-24 to save it's counterstrike potential.

    DJoker:

Notice on the fuselage behind the main gear the ball turrets that are visible. When the undercarriage is retracted they will have a clear view of the ground 360 degrees. They are DIRCM turrets... part of MANTA: http://www.scorpion.com.gr/manta.asp
First time I have seen them on Ka-52s. (have seen them on Ka-50s for testing).

Must admit I did wonder that myself. The RS-24 has already been mentioned publicly so I would wonder if that is the missile he refers to why he didn't mention it by name. Or perhaps they are working on a liquid fuelled heavy rocket that might be fully dual use for launching objects and for military use.

DJoker, a moderator only few posts back told that we should not hotlink. It would be a real shame if this thread gets locked. So in future just copy the link of the photo you want to share and upload it to www.imageshack.us - it's very easy to use - and then you can freely put this photo here.

The Sprut-SD is not exclusively for the VDV (airborne forces).
There is one photo of this vehicle during an amphibious landing from a ROPUCHA class landing ship. That indicates that it may equip the black berets (Russian marines) units. In that case, it will be indeed a PT-76 replacement.

While there a many photos of the Ka-50 with the landing gear up, I have never come accross a Ka-52 with the wheels up. All of the photos I have seen are with the landing gear down ??????

Indeed! The Strela 10 and the Akatsiya cannot take rubber track pads anyway, while the Msta-S and the T-72 do not have them fitted.

Do not post pics directly from other servers. Upload them firstly to somewhere like www.imageshack.us, otherwise this thread will be locked soon.

    In Russian:

Не надо выставлять фотки напрямую с других сайтов, есть специально для этого хостинги. Иначе закроют или удалят тред к едрени-фени. Не раз уже было предупреждение.
