Some facts about AN-94 from wiki and other sources :
- The AN-94 was designed at the Izhmash state factories, as a replacement for the AK-74 assault rifle currently in use in the Russian military. Currently, the Russian military has chosen to retain the AK-74M as its standard service rifle and the AN-94 is only being issued to the elite forces of the Russian military, some Russian police forces, and the MVD.

- the ergonomics of the AN-94 is not the best one. The shape of the pistol grip, and the inclined from the vertical plane magazine are way from being comfortable. The rear diopter sight has small apertures, not protected from dirt, and is hard to clean in the battle conditions. It also has sharp edges and can snag in the clothes or make a scratches on the skin when handled roughly. The grenade launcher mount under the barrel is a little weird, since it uses a large "bridge" between the stock and the launcher. The folding butt interferes with the trigger when folded, and the fire selector, which is separated from the safety, is hard to operate, especially when wet. - Unlike the more common designs, like the Russian Kalashnikov or American M16 rifles and others, the AN-94 internals are not "user friendly", and it took weeks, if not months, to get used to this rifle, its assembly / disassembly and maintenance procedures. It is also more expensive to made and maintain, than the AK-74. From all this it is obvious why this very interesting rifle hardly will see any widespread service, at least with the Russian Army (which at this moment is conscripted by the large, and on a low budget). - An interesting fact about the AN-94, setting it apart from almost all other Russian weapons, is that it is not sold to foreign buyers although Venezuela has shown interest in either acquiring the AN-94 or developing an indigenous assault rifle based on the AN-94s recoiling barrel mechanism. Peru also requested a purchase of 580,000 AN-94s to replace the Peruvian army's HK33s but the purchase order was dropped in favor of an indigenous Peruvian rifle, the FAD which also makes use of a recoiling barrel system.

(wiki) AEK-999 Barsuk (Russian : АЕК-999 Барсук) is a Russian machine gun chambered for the 7.62x54mmR round. It's a modernised PKM machine gun. The barrel of AEK-999 is made of the same type of steel used for machine guns in the aviation for greater durability. The odd device at the muzzle (a suppressor) has several roles : increasing accuracy, reducing the noise for the gunner and reducing his acoustic signature (400 to 600 meters, depending on the terrain), eliminating the muzzle flash which makes the gunner hard to pinpoint and ensures accurate fire during the night since the gunner is not blinded by the flash.
