By the last statements Russian army will not get new BMPTs. What about those which were ordered? The first 2 were ordered in 2008 and by 2010 they said they will have a whole company of BMPTs. Were this orders realized? Any photos of BMPTs in army units? Didn't last year Putin said army will start buying them? It seems there is a lot of fog around them.

There are several BMPT's that were used for tests and they passed tests and were indeed recommended to acceptance into service. (Hence the plans for a company of BMPT's in 2008) But since that time a lot happened - financial crisis, military reform, new doctrine etc. And the plans were abandoned. BTW the 2*30mm configuration was deemed not prospective and that played into the decision also.

It may be reborn in another form again, though it is not priority at least on this stage.

PS: The bigger blow IMO is abandoning of practically all "pre-crisis" modernisation programs for current generation tanks.

I think he was talking about the officer behind Medvedev's left shoulder. It looks like the Navy's regular dress uniform (not parade).

BTW, that officer is the guy who takes care of the Cheget, the briefcase with nuclear launch codes and communication system.
