Russians and Americans, at least, have a dedicated parade rifles.
It seemed to me that we(the Americans) were using M4s with collapsable stocks, could've mixed up pictures though.

Yep. Looks like M4 for me too. M1 would've been better IMO.

I also like the new downsized Russian uniform peaked caps (first image). Compare them to the airfields gracing the heads of our Kazakh and Turkmen brothers and enjoy the difference in style. Classy.

+1 on the hats. Closer to WW2 style Soviet and British small caps, which IMHO were the best looking designs ever. "Airfield for flies" caps are plain ugly (especially on 5'5 pudgy generals).

I am not sure why would they use L96 A1 instead of Lobaev SVL. The russian rifle have over twice the effective range.
Maybe their current mission doesnt require over 2 kilometers distance..

Well, you can see black uniforms much like Marines. That's mean that they are either Alpha or FSO, as all national security services are now wearing it. But Alpha really has no business standing guard, so that's most probably FSO.

They seem to be closer to Tsarist caps than Soviet

I think, they simple use the rifle with which they had more experience and training.
