It's an Air Data Probe - the original Mi-26 Prototype had it way back in the late seventies.
It is used to calibrate the aircraft's sensors - by keeping it away from the airframe in clear air.
Once the initial flights are done and the instruments are calibrated, it is removed and the 'normal' air data probes are used.
Most new prototypes have such probes - well clear of the airframe.
There must be some aerodynamic changes to this new variant to warrant such a probe, unless MVZ are being ultra-cautious ??
I assume those are chaff/flare dispensers above the main wheels - but what are the boxes with the red covers under the bort number ???
