I wonder how many Ka52s are actually in service. By the "bort" numbers I'm making out 3-4 different crafts.

these are just diff pics from same events... and some of these helos are used for presentations and parades all the time...

as for the numbers I am not sure but here's some info on the subject (both Russian)

"Now we supply many types of helicopters to (Russian) Ministry of Defense, this includes the Mi-26T helicopters, as well as Mi-8AMTSH, Mi-8MTV-5, Mi-28N helicopter, Mi-35M, Ka-52, Ka-226 and Ansat. Priority is given to the Mi-28 and Mi-8 ", - said the source.

There was some information from the Russian MoD quite recently that Sprut along with a few other projects were shut down, for unknown reasons. No clear affirmation or denial of this information did not follow.

however I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Our MoD suffers from psychosis and often announces strange things, later denying previous statements and rumors.

it is not exactly clear to me why Sprut-SD was not shown at the parade ... who knows? maybe it does have smth to do with what Popovkin said... but then parade or no parade, psychosis or no psychosis there are anywhere from 60 to 110 Sprut-SD units deployed with the Russian armed forces at the moment ... at least according to this source
