You do realise that the explosion is in the background and isnt actually the engine exploding, its a perspective effect.

Guys. has anyone ever found a real good database of Beslan siege photos? I can't find anything that is not the same crap I see on every website. I want to put together a little report for my friends... but the **** I find is seriously crap. Any links would be appreciated.

Thank you The Armenian. The idea behind this is very smart. This AA gun on heavy armored vehicle and BMPT could do air defense duties (specially against helicopters) in first combat lines together with tanks and could also fight with enemy ground targets. Those vehicles could put air defense systems like Tor or Pantsir to operate more from behind and not to much expose them to enemy ground fire (they are soft skinned and to expensive). Modern FCS could make them very deadly.

There is already a vehicle for this - Tunguska-M1 which travels directly along with the brigade. Given it's missile armament and rapid fire 30mm cannons, I'd imagine that it would be much more suited for the front-line air-defence role than some 57mm cannon. It would be more expensive but considering that it belongs to the generation previous to the Pantsir; I'd imagine not by much, and armour protection will likely be similar.

Perhaps a better idea would be to integrate some anti-air FCS with the vehicles that would be armed with the 57mm; so that if need be their firepower can be used to supplement the Tunguska's.
