Question regarding ASh-12:
I wander how did they manage to eliminate the huge recoil that is being generated by firing such a high caliber of ammunition like 12.7 x 55.
Anyone?

From where there giant recoil? Cartridge subsonic. ".50 Action Express" - in pistol used.

It'll probably be used for checkpoints to stop car engines, similar to the .50 cal Beowulf.

No - this weapon, "one hit". That would not give a chance for a return shot.
This is for special forces - the Interior Ministry, FSB.

Mi-8AMT(Sh)

From wikipedia: [I]Armed assault version of the Mi-8AMT, can carry the same range of weapons as the Mi-24 including the "Shturm" ATGM. Fitted with a new large door on the right side (except the prototype), kevlar plates around the cockpit area and engines, and sometimes a loading ramp in place of the usual clamshell doors. The Russian air force received a first batch of 10 Mi-8AMTSh (without guided weapons package) in December 2010and a second batch in June 2011.

Note that the helo in the picture is NOT a Mi-8AMTSh. I understand that this is in fact not a VVS helo, but a modification for the FSB. I found some designators, including Mi-8AMT MN1 although to me it seems that this version is based on the Mi-8MTV2, not the Mi-8AMT.
The interesting thing is that the Mi-8AMTSh of the VVS is not armed with ATGMs, while the FSB variant is.

About the Mi-8AMTSh, why does it have 2 optronic balls? Wouldn't one be enough? Even assault choppers only have one.

Nice gallery guys.

On regard of the 12,7x55 caliber, there are 2 types one with a ultra heavy bullet fired by the Vychlop supressed rifle, wich is subsonic and the new one for the Ash-12, this uses a lighter bullet making the shot supersonic. The recoils is healty but manageable in this later rifle.

Regarding those 5 old configuration Su-35s from vitaly photo report. Why they don't fly those in airshows?
