    Engaging Islamist Rebs in Dagestan.

Some background: DAGESTAN -- Two NVF fighters, including the leader of the Kaspiisk "bandgroup" Magomed Dzhamayev, have been killed in a spetz-operation targeting occupants of private house in the city of Kaspiisk.

The operation began at 03:00 this morning at house No. 143 on Aliyeva Street after the FSB and police confirmed intelligence that two fighters were hiding in the building. A KTO (Counter-Terror Operations) regime went into effect at 04;52after the neighborhood was evacuated.
Occupants of the targeted house opened fire on law enforcers. Shooting continued throughout the morning, but police, with the help of the parents of those inside, later managed to coax six people (two women and four children) out of the house. However, Dzhamayev and his associated Islam Rashidov refused to peacefully surrender and were killed (Souce: RIA Dagestan)

Basic Complex of Individual Equipment: Ratnik

Ratnik complex is supposed to be based on new material (nanotechnology) allowing microclimate management and thermoregulation; it will incorporate remote medical monitoring, neurocomputing devices, GLONASS navigational system, and radar, infrared and optical surveillance, network integration and central information processing, UAV uplink, and modular construction.
Pretty much an analogue to Landwarrior and other future soldier concepts.

In those vids the guns don't appear to be stabilized, such as one the M1 or Challenger. Is this correct?

You can clearly see in most moments stabilizers are off.

The 106th Guards Airborne Division held exercises not far from the village of Khomyakovo near Tula, in central Russia. Watch this RIA Novosti video to see footage of fighter-plane performance and flying fighting vehicles.

To reduce wear and tear. There is no point having the stabiliser turned on when you arent shooting. During march the tank stabilisers are always off and the barrel set to a locked off position pointing up and left for example.

I wonder if this have some relation to what some former east German tankers reported, that in their T-72M/M1's, stabilization running longer than approx 1 hour would overheat and shut down, same with other T-72 versions?

I doubt, but it would be good to know from someone being Russian.

I cant imagine other tanks having their stabilisers turned on 100% of the time. Surely the M1, Leopart, Challenger, etc, also turn off the stabiliser when just doing a march.
