Russians I just bought a book about the 13th Guards Rifle division from Russia. I do not know how to speak/read your language, however, I do know the history of this particular unit. I just wanted to get some combat photos of this unit. It appears there were several outstanding soldiers in this unit who were awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union decoration. There appears to be a pic of famous sniper Ivan Sidorenko. I assume he spent some time in this unit before being pulled off the front in 1944?

What you see there burning in the air is just a flare deployed by aircraft to confuse heat seaking missiles. I has nothing to do with the big fireball on the ground.
