3 choppers were sent as reinforcements, one chopper was shot down or just crashed. They were Spetsnaz GRU, not sure if Kadyrov guys are GRU.

They were Russians on board. I wouldnt want to separate nationalities. They are part of Russian Federation, Russian citizens. Be it Chechen, Kabardin, Osetin or Siberian

At this moment all is known are some rumors about who was in the heli.

But some of us forget that, inside and outside of our crazy country.

Is it true all of spetsnaz dead? I heard that heli was down and that's it. Damn.
Lavrov died, Rostropovich died, Bronze Soldier Monument at Tenismyagi's removed, heli's down. Any good news for today?
PS Found info about the heli. It's a rumor that Doku Umarov is blocked by federal troops. Wish he'd be there...

AKS-74U is a traditional carbine and is deployed as such. Any personel that carry something heavy, or operate systems or equipment as their main job often are issued with carbines instead of a full sized rifle to reduce the amount the weapon gets in their way. Carbine generally much less accurate and with shorter range but offers more commonality with infatnry rifle than a SMG and more powerful and much more use than any pistol.

So heres a question, just how uniform is the Russian army? Like are they trying to get them all the same equitment or are they still really mismatched
What do you mean by mismatched? There are US soldiers stationed in Europe that wear snow camo, soldiers in Iraq in desert camo, and soldiers elsewhere that have jungle or simple green camo... why are they all so mismatched?

Yeah, fully-equipped soldiers are only elite groups in reality. Common line troops are equipped like hell only in Hollywood films. Look - most of US soldiers shown in Iraq have woodland-camo armor vests. And Marine Corps had overaged M60s as tank support. So what now, we'll decide US spend little sums of money for its armed forces? ))))
There were lacks in military budgets even at Cold War, and they were drastically reduced for today (except US maybe). Russian forces are suffering the USSR-collapse and chaos so they look mismatched even more than in Western countries. But for instance Germany got rid of amount of tanks, and all tank-crews got infantry designations and now fulflilling infantry tasks..

But don't worry, looking at what happening in the world all countries begin to arm themselves and spend lots of money to defend their point of view instead of building its industry or improve education, just you wait...
