    What other "improvements" have they made to the modernized 2S1, apart from replacing the 122mm cannon with the 120mm 2A80 from the 2S31 Vena?

    (I don't like it, reduces the range)

    Is it entering service?

    PS-90 is also used on the new and reingined Il-76s.
    i think he mixed it up with Tu-204
    by the way, PS-90 is up to standard and the noise thing is nothing to do with high bypass, since today's turbofan engines are all high bypass design...

    1. Higher rate of fire;
    2. Wider range of available ammunition;
    3. Automated fire control and navigation systems;
    4. Shorter minimum range;
    5. Reduced combat readiness time.

    As long as prototypes exist (and the schematics), then development is not entirely lost. Just alternatives would have to be made. But the tech and development of the plane is old soviet style, that many things would have to probably be changed.
    I remember an older book about it... in the early 1990s I think that had a line drawing of the Yak-43 which was a proposed version with a 20-25 ton thrust main engine that was much larger and had a body of the same basic layout of the Yak-141 but with angled sides rather than slab sides that looked rather stealthy.
    Looked very interesting, but there was no money and no international investment in the program.

    What type of IFV is this (Half BMP and half BRDM).. ??
    It was a test vehicle that lost the competition to become the BMP-1. There were 4 competitors that were a mix of wheels, wheels and tracks and tracks only. All had same turret with same armament I believe.

    I am a big fan of Russian aviation - but the Yak-141 was not the first supersonic VTOL aircraft - the French Mirage IIIV was.

    Much as it saddens me to say so, the French got there first !!
    This is true, but the French plane was a modified existing aircraft with lift jets... a bit like the fixed wing competitor to the swing wing Mig-23 rather than a viable aircraft on its own.

    Some kind of BUK-M1 version me thinks.
    BUK-M1 with a TOR turret...

    Would make sense to use the same chassis for the short and medium range Army SAMs.

    Modern sub-water automat, based on another automat APS.
    Solves the problem that while the special ammo is very effective underwater, above water it has a much shorter effective range than any other assault rifle calibre round. The ASM-DT combines long bullets for use underwater or into water or out from water at air, with standard 5.45mm rounds for above air use only. Best of both worlds. Can kill enemy divers and enemy trained dolphins or dangerous underwater marine life like sharks and even jellyfish and squid/octapus etc, and also use as an assault rifle when you get above water.
    One omission from that website is anti tank rifles from WWII. They have a section for heavy calibre sniper rifles but it doesn't include WWII anti tank rifles. There isn't a section for them in the bolt action and semi auto rifle section either. No PTRS-41 or PTRD-41.

    Does anyone remember the information / article and/or Izdeliye names of the next-gen Russian A2A weapons?

    The numbers seem to have been mentioned / released for the R-73M / R-77 replacements.
    AFAIK the suggested long, medium, and short range missiles are to be initially: R-33E, R-77/R-27ER, R-73M2. For the next gen they are to be the R-37M, R-77M, and R-74.

    There is a development of the R-77 and R-73/4 in the works AFAIK.

    It was revealed with Izdeliye names only.
