Not much known. Georgian side claimed loss of at least one tank and few military pickups to Russian helicopters near S.Ossetia. One abandoned on Senaki airfield Mi-24 and one Mi-14 was destroyed in the morning 11 Aug by ATGMs from Russian Mi-24.

I believed these helicopters were destroyed by the advancing VDV forces. So they were destroyed by the Mi-24s....

Also, your site mentions 2 x Mi-24 and 1 x Mi-14 destroyed at Senaki.

The contract was awarded to the MITT, which have experience in building ICBMs such as the Topol, but none in building SLBMs.

The contract should be given to the Makeyev beureu who built the Sineva, an extremely successful missile, and the Borei should be modified.

Actually, it was Makeyev who originally were designing the SLBM for the Borei (then Project 935) - the Bark (SS-NX-28)- which would also have rearmed the Typhoons - it was a much-modernized SS-N-20, AFAIK.

After numerous failures and MITT lobbying, the Bark was cancelled and Bulava took its place, there was a huge delay as the Borei was modified to take Bulava instead of Bark (hence Project 935 = Project 955) - and here we are - over ten years later, and Bulava doesn't work yet either.

It just goes to show how completely foolish they were to cancel the Bark. They gained nothing out of it.
