Question, watching some of these music videos reminded me of a Russian music video where it is a story of two friends who go different paths, reuniting years later during a hostage rescue on a commercial airliner. One friend a hostage, another is Alfa (the singer). I believe that musician had roots in the Russian SOF community. I tried searching for this video to no avail, does anyone have the link?

My condolences to you and his family. I'm going to church today to light a candle for my old man and if you don't mind I'll also light one for your friend Aleksei.
Sorry to hear about your fathers passing Robert. Best wishes to you and your family too.
Whatever happens when friends or family pass away perhaps you can take comfort in the knowledge that you have another someone special waiting for you there.

...I know... strange talk for an athiest... just because I don't believe in organised religion doesn't mean I don't believe in anything beyond this existence.

The issue is not in that that 7.62X39 is bad - though, in my opinion, it concedes series 9X39 (7Н8, 7Н9, 7Н12)
Don't let anyone bad mouth the 7.62 x 39mm. The .220 Russian is based on the 7.62 x 39mm and the 6mm PPC round is based on the .220 Russian. The 6mm PPC round is considered the most accurate bench rest round out to 300 yards in the world.

The problem is - why this weapon was there at all?
Probably hard to justify buying new weapons when older weapons are in storage. Of course having said that the best solution is a big garage sale with the money and new funding paying for new stuff..

It is probably still cheaper to get 7.62 x 39mm subsonic ammo than accurate 9 x 39mm ammo.

BTW I looked up the article the photos were taken from and here it is:

    http://eng.kremlin.ru/text/speeches/...3_222071.shtml

The first part of the article is all about rearmament with new weapons.

The second part that explains the photos is this:

Dmitry Medvedev was also shown new military uniforms for servicemen of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation Collective Rapid Reaction Force (CSTO CRRF).
All CSTO CRRF units will be wearing a new Russian-made uniform during the active phase of military exercises in Kazakhstan in mid-October.

(article Title:GORKI, MOSCOW REGION. Dmitry Medvedev had a working meeting with Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov. Dated:October 8, 2009 16:30 Thursday)

Yes, I do not let - I speak...
In the first - I know offers on 6.5 mm to cartridges of general Fedorova (I here placed their photo). Also I think that "the compelled mistake" in due time has been admitted.
In the second - you think a cartridge 9х39 have created "simply so"? Have forgotten about 7.62УС (57-Н-231У)?

In fact, the question is not armed with 31st Separate Air Assault Brigade, and in the relationship "military-industrial complex" - the army. But this is not the topic of "pictures from Russia."

    Thank you Garry.

I don't believe in god either (neither does anyone in my family) but it's a custom to light a candle and say a prayer for the dead ones a year.

And Roman I did what I said, i'm sure you don't mind, it was even an Orthodox Church and I had father Anufry say a prayer.

Prototype sniper "triplex" - semiautomatic rifle "TAKTIK". Molot Machine-Building Plant OAO.

The rifle could use a three-caliber (with the replacement of the trunk).

    Cartridges - .35 Remington (9.0x49).308 Winchester (7.62x51).243 Winchester (6.0x53).
Although the results were quite good - the weapon is not has gone to a series...

Could someone recommend a documentary about Balkan wars? In Russian or with Russian/English subs but from Serbian perspective.

Вечная слава твоему дорогому другу и верному воину Руси. Пусть земля ему будет пухом. Пусть его убыток никогда не становится забытый.

Roman, I can't explain it, and it might seem ridiculous coming from an anonymous picture on the internet, but your sadness really did move me. Somehow I felt compelled to post because my username is the namesake of Alexei's unit. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your comrade and friend (and my apologies for my broken Russian, which I am newly inspired to finish learning).
