The most deceptive kind of truth - half-truth. The guy in vid has been quite a loyal pup between 1986-1999, obviously he was happy with what has been going on back then...makes me wonder.

PS by any chance, it's kinda hard to imagine shortage of steelpot helmets by 1945, spshly for officers.

Photo taken at Tulamash where a DUET system is being assembled. It is a CIWS with two gatling guns (one on top of the other). The system has low radar signature and is intended to go on future Russian warships. A few systems have already been produced.

Indeed. Because the actual funding is LESS than projected. And even when there is actual funding for refurbishment (like in the case of "Admiral Nakhimov"), no work is being done because most of the equipment that needs to be replaced is either no longer produced, or produced very slowly by the surviving OEMs.

In any case, Ushakov and Lazarev are no longer seaworthy, and their nuclear fuel has been extracted from them. Nakhimov and Pyotr still have their nuclear fuel, but both require expensive maintenance to keep them in the fleet.

I liked the idea someone had for Ushakov/Kirov to become a Museum-Ship, kinda like the Iowa class battleships. Repaint it, make the compartments look nice, park it somewhere on the Moskva river and I will fly from London and pay to see it. But that's pretty much the extent of its usefulness as a naval vessel.

    Obligatory Anti-Off-Topic image...
