Still more to go but I'm past half way.
This is an earlier shot of her.

Aparently this ship caused quite a stir and never finished refit but ended up being scrapped after wasting a huge amount of money on it. Pity, it's a nice looking ship. I could be wrong if so please let me know.

Epic collection of photos. Well done, mate! You deserve a round of applause.
Aye, that's BPK Ochakov, an ASW destroyer. She's been in refit in Crimea since 1991. A total loss, they've finally decived to write her off this year and strike her from the naval register.
There is no good or bad about it. It's just life. She is too old and sinking good money after bad into that ship is just pointless.
She could have served in the fleet during the 90's if the refit was completed, but it wasn't and now it doesn't matter. 40 year old ships have no place in the active fleet, regardless of nostalgia.
Thank you Hump
Thanks mate, as I said, I think the Russians make some of the nicest looking ships in the world, and I love the old subs, have a look on the "Beautiful Submarines" (Strange name) thread, I just posted about another 120 pics there. Also Aircraft Carriers, I just posted a stack of pics on the Minsk, Kuznetsov, Kiev & Gorshkov.

A related issue to the Ochakov is the stupidity of the Azov (another Kresta 2 ship). The Azov was scrapped while the Kerch was refurbished. This is stupid because the Azov was far more advanced and had the S-300F installed, vs the obsolete SA-N-3/4 installed on the Kerch.
awesome post Hump
Awesome series, but I notice that in most photos Varyag was pictured in the very center of Vladivostok. In fact, the best chance to see her in Vladivostok is the Navy Day, when there's a naval review, as she's not stationed in Vladivostok and visits the city very infrequently.
