    It was all over the news today. Beautiful gesture in Poland and really comforting to be reminded there are many goodhearted people all over.

    Anybody that could help me?
    I would like to know rank and military decorations of my wife grandfather, she tell me only he was a tank unit officer since the start of IIWW and up to Vienna occupation, see enclosed pictures.
    (img009,second one should one of the last taken).

    Looks like a lieutenant with two red stars orders. But my guesses are based on modern ranking

    Guys, if you can, give a flower to veterans you meet, there aren't many of them alive now. They will be happy for this gesture, I'm sure, and it's the very least we could do for these people.

    The brother of my grandfather, the participant of the Finnish war, was gone at blasting a torpedo boat Volodarsky.



    Eskadrennyj torpedo boat? Volodarsky? (To 12/31/1922 of year? The winner?)

    Destroyer? The winner? Has been put in St.-Petersburg in November, 1913, it is floated on November, 5th, 1914, has become operational on November, 7th, 1915. From October, 1918 till November, 1919 was in a reserve. On December, 31st, 1922 it is renamed in? Volodarsky?. On April, 24th, 1921 was a part of Naval forces of the Baltic fleet. Has passed major repairs in 1923-1924 and 1934-1937.

    Participated in the Soviet-finnish war: bombardment of strengthenings of the opponent on islands of gulf of Finland in December, 1939.

    During the Great Patriotic War participated in defence of gulf of Riga and Tallinn, a transfer of fleet from Tallinn to Kronstadt.

    On June, 22nd, 1941 has met under command of the captain N.V.Falina's 2 ranks as a part of 3rd battalion of destroyers КБФ in Tallinn.

    On June, 23rd and 26, 1941 participated in statement of a defensive mine obstacle in a mouth of gulf of Finland. On June, 24-25th was in охранение the cruiser undermined on a mine? Maxim Gorky? During its transition to Tallinn.

    On July, 1st, 1941 was together with other destroyers in охранении a battle ship? October revolution? During its transition to Kronstadt.

    On August, 28th, 1941 during following to Kronstadt with structure of 3rd group of the fighting ships after blasting on a destroyer mine? Kalinin? Has stopped a course, but during the same moment it was undermined on a mine and has sunk almost instantly together with all crew around island Mohn
