Today at 13:25 Moscow Time, a Proton-M SLV launched from the Baykonur cosmodrome with a payload of 3 GLONASS satellites, thus completing the deployment of the navigation system's orbital constellation.

GLONASS has a bright future...
P.S: The first pic has a mistake - Glonass-M is not 2009 but 2003 design.
God damn, they either launched those 3 "Glonass-M's" on the wrong orbit, or, more probably, sank in Pacfic. There was an error in rocket inclination...
IMHO
I think that it was an error in separation of 3d and 4th (Разгонный блок) stage.
Blok D/Fregat/Briz could align there trajectory if separation was at necessary height. But if separation was at below necessary height rocket engine operating mode would be wrong and ,possible, trust and propellant consumption would be far away from normal level.....
It's not that catastrophic as the dumb journos make it sound in Russian media... More like a bad PR for civilian segment... the military says it already has all the coverage that it needs... Russia may launch next Proton as soon as 3-6 months. It just that this is pretty expensive package gone to waste - Proton-M + 3 Glonass-M.... Jeez....
Hope they launch the first Glonass-K succesfully. It will be riding on Soyuz-2-1b, and it also had some issues lately. If I am not mistaken it was assigned for this month...
Last news:
Proton failure........
[QUOTE=D-Mitch;5336805]
Is that a Mig-27? Really cool pic! I thought Russia retired all Mig-27s. Can someone please let me know if that's true. I always really liked that plane.
Thank you Vitaly.
That AM-23 looks like a BFG (Big Effin Gun)
23mm Cannon. damn that could dish out the pain pretty well
Well I didn't express myself correctly.. Many activities were slated to start with the completion of the constellation. I mean on the civilian side, like mandatory installing recievers in the vehicles.. Plus our international partners(India, and others)that are developing glonass recievers....
+ Don't forget the impact of journos and dimwit bloggers who piss on everything made in Russia.
Keep your fingers crossed its going to be helluva ride(with new 2-nd stage engines)!
Air Force new pics
The new insignia are already on some aircrafts..
