Russia and West share the same enemy nowadays; extremists who use the belief system of choice to disturb the society. Cold war may linger in some minds but I see no reason why a dispute between west and russia needs to be resolved in any more drastic way as between, say, USA and France i.e. A few harsh(?) words and then a banquet.
