Advantage of AK-74 is lower recoil, better bullet ballistics, and the ability to carry more bullets since they are lighter than the 7.62x39mm of the AK-47. AK-47 has advantages though, I read that FSB troops in Chechnya sometimes prefer it for operations inside cities/buildings. But for general army I think AK-74 is better in almost every way.
I confuse nothing. MRAPs can not replace APCs in army exactly because they are vehicles of different purpose (even if the similar weight and cost class). APCs are vehicles for regular mechanized warfare against comparable adversaries, MRAPs are patrol vehicles for low-intensity counter-insurgency campaigns. By the way, this is meant by the designation SPM-3 itself: SPM is an abbreviation from “special police machine/vehicle”.
As the Russian army is not engaged in low-intensity counter-insurgency campaigns of Iraq/Afghanistan type now, but still oriented towards regular mechanized warfare of “classical type”, it purchases and develops APCs and not MRAPs. Within the Russian structure of armed forces MRAPs are intended for “interior troops” (MVD troops). But even they don’t feel keen necessity of such specialized vehicles now and manage with cheaper armored trucks for a while.

Most of these machines were created ON ORDER of ARMY, because BTR-80 and unarmoured Kamaz and Ural - do not correspond to the realities of warfare.
In military units, this machinery, for the time being, no... (I mean - "platform Tayfun")
