Is very impressive the many different types of uniforms and camouflage patterns there are in the Russian Armed Forces.
Is there a logical explanation to that or is just a random thing? I mean, sometimes you can see 2 or 3 different patterns in a single pic.
If you are talking about Russia, you are talking about 11 time zones and the climate and terrain which varies from tundra and arctic snow to the sand and sun of the desert.
When choosing the camouflage the common sense plays a part. You wounldn't wear white camo to the greenland of Caucus mountains (though in the winter that would be very useful). Same goes for other climatic zones and terrain.
But how do you explain having 6 different camo sets in one unit? They serve in one climate, one time zone and one terrain.
I know in few years time all Russian units will have only couple "own" camouflage sets, it's just a matter of money and time. Looking at some pics you already see the equipement being standarised (vests, overalls, armament, camo) especially the interior ministry forces and SF guys.
