I am talking about army trucks made in the 70's and 80's that were manufactured and stored as reserve trucks in case they were needed in time of a big war...

Those trucks are pretty much new (never used) - but made 20 - 30 years ago.

As for new Army trucks like Kamaz, Ural etc. you are right, they start at about $30,000.

AMUR production.
The ZIL-130 has the same cab as the -131, quite unusual.

I'm not exactly sure who buys the fresh from the factory Zils made by Amur (maybe Russian army), but I would much rather buy one from an army stockpile suck as http://www.zil131.ru/ (interesting how the diesel version is nearly 2 times the cost of a petrol one!)

The Amur Zil-131's have been shown at the Nizhni Taigil Arms shows for a few years now.

Oh and also, here's a few new Videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G9R5Coqrkw - ZIL-4972 6x6x4 being put through testing with a ballast weight attached...

It's interesting to know that these trucks are not actually manufactured by Zil, but by PZRA www.pzra.nnov.ru , they also produce the Zil-4906 http://legion.wplus.net/guide/army/tr/zil4906.shtml (some very cool videos here!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7B9av2eG2E - Zil-134 from the 50's, I doubt there were any trucks that could match the off-road capabilities of this thing - then and even now.

Thanks for the links.

Is PZRA owned by ZIL or is it an independent company?

It's cheap, reliable and has no strings attached.

Great phot gallery.
AFAIK it is an independant company that manufactures radio equipment but also has a division that makes these ZIL trucks (they concentrated production of special vehicles there for some reason, maybe because of more qualified personnel that works more precisely and doesn't make as many "bugs" - after all this is life saving equipment..)
