You guys have mad skills. When I worked on the Iowa investigation for the Navy we had a replica of the entire turret made. It was about 3 feet long to the tip of the guns. Beautiful job done by an old modelmaker at one of our contractors. The top came off so you could see the entire interior with the powder charges and the shells etc. Most of it was made out of brass.

Yeah, um that sorta dissapeared when all of the Navy Captains and investigators left. Have no frigging idea which one of them stole it...

Ok I've been researching airbrushes, plenty sources online say go with internal mix, but an equal amount say that for a beginner it doesn't really matter, and the guys at the two local hobby shops say external mix is fine for military applications. What do you guys say?
I've heard good things about the Badger 350 and Paasche H anyone go experience with them? BTW Stuka, what did you use to weather the barrel on that King Tiger? It looks very realistic! |

Do you mean JagdTiger? It's turned aluminum barrel so scratches are basically scratched off paint. The barrel was primed with Black Army Primer, sprayed with Tamiya Hull Red Color (imitating Red Oxide) and then softly with diluted metalic Tamiya Gun Metal to give it a metallic hint. 70/30 Burnt Sienna/Black oil wash - even though the latter is to taste... |

Here is my F-15A Eagle. This is a Tamiya kit that is sort of a rush build for my nephew. After opening the box, at closer inspection, it is not a Charlie Eagle, as the box describes, but an Alpha model. For decals, I decided to use the excellent Hurricane Katrina Relief set by Two Bobs graphics (at $3.00, I couldn't pass it up!), which contains decals for an F-15A from the 159th FW and an F/A-18A+ from VFA-204 "River Rattlers", both based out of New Orleans. Since I'm not building this kit for my own viewing and displaying pleasure, I'm not going to put too much work into it, but there are a few things I didn't like about this particular kit. For starters, several parts lack detail, such as the afterburner nozzles and the missiles but the cockpit detail was very lacking. I just don't like having to use intrument decals- I hate those with a passion. I would much rather detail the cockpit intruments under light and magnifying glass. I did, however, order a set of afterburner nozzles from Aires this past Friday. As for weapons loadout, I intend to use a mix of 2 AIM-7M Sparrow, 2 AIM-120 AMRAAM, and 2 AIM-9M Sidewinder missiles. Well, here's a few shots of the Eagle jazzed up in Bayou Militia markings.
