A few awesome pics from Vietnam era again. many thanks to all who contributed so far with awesome pics and videos.

^^ Check that minigun pod! that rocks.

CSAR escort.

Last is a very strange shot - no details with it, but clearly there are RAF aircraft as well as US airframes.

This kind of thing usually only happens in the movies. Amazing.

There are some awesome pictures in this thread. Thanks for posting.

That MoH citation is indeed extremely humbling. The man risked life and limb to not only go land, put wait for the guy to get to his aircraft, back onboard and off again. I bet he was damn glad there were extra A-1s in the skies for enemy supression. It would make a fantastic scene in a movie.

Back to Vietnam! From parked on runway in early morning rain, to lift off, to weapons release and detonation on the near by mountains in support of troops in contact.

My question is off topic, sorry about that, but in the (great watch indeed) documentary posted on the first page, 4th vid, @8.12, and 8.27 the helicopters seem to be leaking some sort of fluid. I was wondering if anybody knows what and why?

great thread btw

Looks very much like a high altitude agent orange spraying. Agent orange was a chemical that caused the trees and bushes to lose all their leaves making it easier for the aircraft and troops on the ground to spot enemy soldiers.
