Russian military adopts new uniforms, digital camo patterns

Russian army adopts new field and everyday uniforms as well as new digital camo pattern, these apparently received final approval just last week. New field uniform is reportedly a four-layer system. If anybody comes across more info/pictures please feel free to post them here.

Looks OK. What is the difference to the Flora uniforms besides the pattern?

No offense our Russian board members, but the Russian military is probably better off without that pattern!

may I ask the poster above me why he thinks that the Russian forces dont need this type of a uniform?

I think that digital cammo is the next step in military uniforms (although they have been around for decades) and all the nations one day will be using it

When do we get our DIGITAL TAZ uniform? The Flecktarn or the Digital Patterns seem to work very well. Small dots or square hide better than big ones.

Seems to me that the Russian military has better things to spend their money on than new camo patterns. Improving the living conditions of soldiers and recruits maybe...

Not too many details available yet, but the cut of the field uniform seems to be based on the good old Soviet "mabuta" field camo, the special set originally used by the Spetsnaz in Afghanistan before the introduction of the "Afghan" khaki field uniforms. It's loosely similar to various commercially produced field uniforms like Splav's Krot or SSO's VDV.

Supposedly, the new field camo will finally be made from rip-stop fabric and have IR-treatment. The waterproof layer is reportedly using the Sympatex membrane, produced in Russia on imported production line.

Personally, I'd wait to see more pics final samples preferably in some real environments. Overall, the pattern seems to be using the Flora colour palette which is fairly effective in Russia's temperate regions. The subdued version is apparently intended for mountainous regions, primarily North Caucaus.

Yes, but unless you are the Amerikans who just bin everything in a massive roll out program, the way to do it is to just introduce it through a wear out system... ie stock levels of the old kit are run down and once its gone the new stuff is introduced.

Might take years before everyone has this, not over night.

If I am not mistaken, Yudashkin's and Chapurin's designers worked on the styling of the everyday uniforms, not the field camo.

It's funny how many different uniforms are in use in Russian Military...I actually saw uniforms used in Chechnya, that were captures during WWII from Germans....I know that Russian members will say, "who cares as long as it work", but I think it's so funny because you never know if there are Russian soldiers, para-militia, SF or insurgents....

Are you sure what you saw wasn't the Partizan camo or a variant in the so-called "Lyagushka" pattern which was based on the 1944 Waffen SS pattern? These are widely used by the counter-terror units like the TsSN of the FSB.
