According to this article it was the Georgian patrol boat P-21 Georgy Toreli that was hit by a "Malakhit" (SS-N-9) anti-surface missile from the Russian MRK Mirazh (617, project 12341, NATO - Nanuchka III) missile corvette. Another Georgian boat was damaged at sea. The Russian missile cruiser Moskva (121, project 1164, NATO - Slava class) was hit by gunfire and had to withdraw. The rest of the Georgian boats, incl. the missile boat Tbilisi, were shelled in Poti harbour on the 13th Aug, apparently abandoned by their crews.

Wikipedia says Georgian navy had two missile boats before the conflict, the Tbilisi and the Dioskuria. Which was the third missile boat?

That cannon turret on the missile boat looks like it was recently installed.

Found a photo of P-21 Georgy Toreli which is supposed to have been sunk by a missile. It was a project 205 Stenka class patrol boat, modified with two single old 37 mm guns, and it belonged to the Georgian coast guard.

In pictures:

This is the Georgian coast guard patrol boat GEORGY TORELI (P-21).

This is the Russian MIRAZH (617) missile corvette that sunk the Georgian boat.

This is the R-120 MALAKHIT (SS-N-9) antiship missile used to sink the Georgian vessel.

Information is still lacking.

There has been some mis-information spread by an Ukrainian source that there were 8 killed and 10 injured on board.

The Russian Navy command has denied those allegations that the Russian Navy sustained casualties.

INTERFAX.RU - [Glavkomat] the Navy of Russia refuted the assertions of Ukrainian media outlets about the fact that in the course of operation on the coercion of Georgia to the peace the Russian warships obtained damages, and among their crews there were victims. " Materiel, armament of ships are found in the working order. The communications of Ukrainian media outlets about allegedly the killed and injured seamen on board the ships are usual invention. Losses and injured [net]" , said " To Interfax on Saturday the assistant of [glavkoma] the Navy of Russia captain Igor Dygalo.

So the entire Georgian navy got wipped out by Russia's black sea fleet?

I hope there were some survivors in the water, and that they got rescued by the russian ships.

According to the Russians, the Toreli sank in 90 seconds. No reports about survivors.

The other 6 ships were demolished in harbour. Nobody was on board.
