Default 50 Cal and 40mm chain gun in one replacement

On the show future weapons there was a story on the new model of 50 Calibre machine gun that could have its barrel removed and replaced with a 40mm chain gun barrel.

It was being tested by the US Army on the show and I was just wondering if they were still interested in using the gun or has it gone the the way of the XM8 project

It would be good if there was someone who could tell us what is happening with this project and were it is at the moment.

The XM307/312 project seems to be hold or... dead.

Looking at all these different projects, I got this feeling the M2 isn't going anywhere soon.
