Default Homosexuality: Choice? Disorder? Genetics? Enviroment?

First off I would like to clarify I am not bashing on Homosexuals. I know quite a few and for the most part they are good respectful people that are no different then us other then sexual orientation.

What I would like to debate is what makes people attracted to the same sex. We are suppose to be wired so that we want to mate with someone to produce offspring. Two guys or Two girls cannot have a child without adopting. That seems kind of odd that they would go against the natural order of things without a clear positive outcome.

So the first option is they choose to be this way. First thing is why would someone choose to be gay? I really can't see a positive its not completely accepted in our society. You cannot have kids naturally... So i really Don't think its a choice its pre-determined from one of the other options listed below.

Now what if its a disorder? Say they aren't creating enough of something in there brain or too much so it switch's there sexual attraction. This would make sense because Bi-sexuals would have a perfect balance if they are attracted to both sex's. We could at this point treat them for being gay which does sound kinda politically incorrect. The question is ould they wanna be fixed?

Genetics... So I can't really figure this one out. Because if your gay its almost certain your parents aren't. Maybe there is a gene that determines our sexual orientation and nothing we can do can fix this short of genetic engineering.

Enviroment... This makes alot of sense. I have noticed most gay males I know either Don't have father or aren't very close to them. Another example is when a girl is raised without a dad or a dad that doesn't giver her the proper attention usually she would be what we call a W-hore and or a bitch (I'm not saying this is 100% but defiantly a factor.

So it seems there are lots of things that could make someone a homosexual. Is it one of these. None of these. Or a combination.

Frankly, this isn't exactly the right venue for this debate and I don't feel like babysitting this gay thread all night banning crazy people.

OK, because the thread starter fancies himself a human behaviorist, I'll open it back up and come back in here tomorrow and start shotgunning infractions. Enjoy.

Sorry dobby, but a MP.Net poll isn't going to reflect the reality.

If you are going to make statements such as these, you first have to establish that homosexuality is indeed 'un-natural' and that sex is a behaviour exclusive to procreation. Furthermore, you must also define a 'positive' outcome. 'Positive' to what? An outcome of what?

You may want to read this book before making definitive statements such as the above:

Yes, people desire to be homosexual so they can be discrimated against and go through years of torment.

How can they be no different from us if there's really an "us" and consequentially also a "them" according to your logic? And why would you be curious about the cause for homosexuality if you neither want to bash homosexuals nor give a crap about their orientation, like you've said?

Maybe you're right with your list. Maybe you're not. Maybe it doesn't matter at all. We can talk about discrimination and reverse discrimination, advantages and disadvantages of homosexuality and whatnot. But the exact cause for its existance is as important as a grain of rice in China.

Is it really ? Why are there so many people without children ?

Why are there so many sex practices around that are not able to make a woman pregnant i.e. facials, anal sex ? If it was wired into our brain, stuff like this shouldn't be so popular.

Sometimes I wish I was gay....you never are obligated to pay for the check and you know you're gonna get laid at the end of every date.

With all due respect and as much as I usually agree with you, that bit's not true. It is not for no reason that mother nature has decided that it takes a man and a woman to make a child. Many studies suggest that the most mentally stable children do grow up in picture-book families, that means mother, father and a working relationship between them. Exceptions only prove the rule.

I say open up the floor to unmitigated thread-wrecking on behalf of Tom of Winnipeg or whoever was spit out of some equally dismal prairie province that started this. I am "curious" to see who "comes out" in this thread and gets all Oral Roberts.
