Since the holidays are approaching I would like to get some ideas about donating. I have previously donated to Wounded Warriors having met and spoke at length with plenty of military personnel within, while working special events and the like. Other than that, nothing. I plan to continue that, but I would like some ideas about what those who are deployed benefit from/look forward to the most.
I know several people that have cell phones that they never use but still have in their possession. Would "Cell Phones for Soldiers" worth the effort? |

Good question, but i am not sure of the answer. Throughout the year my family usually only donates to two organizations. The federation of the blind, and also the Disabled Vets. So my question is about the same as yours. What are some good places that accept donations for military personel. Im not so much excited to donate cash, but more than willing to donate actual items.

locopolica and willytree, thanks for your consideration of the troops during the holidays. We appreciated that you take time out of your holiday schedule to help us. If you would like to send a care package type of thing, here is a website I found that you might be interested.

I always find a deserving or needy neighbor...I like to keep it as close as possible. Looks like this year there will be plenty to choose from.
Wife and I also go to breakfast at a place near the AF base and buy breakfast for all the service people in the place. I have made the arrangements with the restaurant in advance. This only costs about $150.00 bucks and makes a great hit with the GI's in there...of course, we never let them know it's our treat. I get a kick out of watching their faces when the waitress picks up their tabs and tells them it's on the house...makes them feel appreciated...and I am informed, this year, the house is splitting the bill with us. Perhaps we have started something. But, really, we just love keeping the good will close to home. |
