Today I saw a flight of 4 Blackhawks passing west to east just south of downtown.
About a year or so ago I saw a AH-1 Cobra and a two CH-46s. Anyone know what reason these Helicopters would have over LA? I don't believe any of these are stationed anywhere near here. Ceremonial stuff? I understand fixed wing aviation with the range to do so. |

It's an urban exercise. So don't sweat it... they aren't coming after you.

The Marine helos are probably from Camp Pendleton, Barstow or 29 Palms. |

Camp Pendleton and Miramar have permanent based helo squadrons, while Barstow and 29 Stumps do not. |

Do not forget the following agencies also fly varients of the UH60 and could be in/around LA.
USAF HH60s at Edwards and Nellis AFBs Army UH60s at Fort Irwin USCG HH60s USN SH60s in San diego and Point Mugu Customs UH60s (Black) LA City or County has FireHawks I believe CDF has Firehawks and I know they have AH-1 Cobras. But more than likely as mentioned they are from Los Alamitos. |
