Operation Kristiania (Anti-terror exercise)

Operation Kristiania or "Øvelse Kristiania" is the biggest anti-terrorist excerise in Norway. In 5 days (20 sept. - 25 sept) 5000 personel with the Police and armed forces in Norway act in the excerise in realistic situations.

Military Forces
-HomeGuard and the Homeguards school - 4000 men and women
-The Kings Garde
-2 Teams of Explosive clearing teams
-Police forces

The Police forces
The police has the same job in peace and/or in war
-Protect property, people and special goods
-To keep order
-With or without support take out any threats that danger the peace

With terror or sabotage its the polices job to find and neutralise the danger and take the situation control anyone or anything that threatens.

The police has a force of 8 000 men in service before 51% of the police would be dispatched to the army if mobilised, but now only 150 men will be dispatched.

Beredskaps troppen (Delta)
Is Norways special trained anti-terror squad, that deals with hostage-takings, and in crime on Norwegian Earth. The troop consists of 70 men, but can be dispatched anywhere in Norway at short time.

Utrykningsenhetene (UEH) is another unit that deals with police tactics against terror, sabotage and crime with the ordinary police forces. UEH can also operate as bodyguards or guards.

The Kings Police escort is the unit that has the responsebility to protect the Kings family and guests. But that Kings Garde protects his property.

Police reserve consists of 5450 men who have done basic training but do not work full-time police and they will do repitition excercises and can be mobilised when needed. Their jobs are to control traffic, patrols, guarding, border control. And they are provided with weapons and nessacary equiptment for use when mobilised.

Politiets Sikkerhetstjeneste (PST) (Police SecurtyService) have the responsability to investigate in terror crimes, e.g find WMD, and violent extremists. They also co-operate with other departments.
