Default MAGAV-Israel's border police

MAGAV is the combat arm of the Israeli Police. MAGAV troops are trained by the IDF in high infantry level but serve under the police. They are deployed in the disputed territories, in the countryside and on Israel's borders.
MAGAV has four SF units: YAMAM (Counter Terror and Hostage Rescue unit), YAMAS (Counter Terror undercover unit), YAMAG (Tactical Counter Crime and Counter Terror rapid deployment unit) and MATILAN (Intelligence gathering and infiltrations interception unit).

Those are a lot of good units and I can bring down many more pics to all of them but for this post I want to concentrate on Unit Matilan simply because they are a great unit and because of their unique woodland and urban camouflage. Now I know some members might find the colour a bit strange but if you have been to the west bank and seen the many large rocks that dot the landscape you will recognise that the colour makes sense. Aslo at the end I have included some nice CQB training pics.......

having a man's full weight resting on the leg-knee joint has to be painful.

it looks painful. having a man's full weight resting on the leg-knee joint has to be painful.
not really for your back is pressed against the wall and that is taking a lot of the pressure with it.

Secondly this technique is also used for quickly jumping to a second floor or to a roof if it’s a one story house, where one operator quickly positions himself with his knees like in the picture and another one jumps on his knees and then proceeds to put his feet on the soldiers shoulders and then the other person attempts to stand up and push up and thus the person is on the second floor or on the roof.

Its hard to explain in writing but trust me these are very good techniques for CQB or MOUT training or operations.

i understand what you're saying.
Seeing as you have that peculiar eye for “those type of things” , I am not sure I want to see that hug smiley coming from you, I mean you never know what’s behind that on your part

hehe but hey I am happy you understood my explanation.

Oh and what the heck, to you as well (but in the way it was "platonically" (sp?) intended )

MAGAV have notable achievements in averting terror attacks:
- They have thwarted a combined suicide attack of 4 terrorists by capturing them in Taibe before they managed to go out to slaughter. An IDF D9 assisted to the YAMAM in the successful operation.
- They capture a car loaded with about 550 kg of explosives.
- They dedtected 3 explosive-belts in a bakery near Jerusalem, ment for a triple suicide bombing.
- They rescued Eliyaho Goral from Palestinian captivity.
- YAMAM killed Hamas head in Hebron, Abbedulla Qawasameh. Two months later IDF Nahal brigade killed his successor Ahmed Bader and IDF D9 bulldozer killed Bassal Qawasameh, Bader's successor.

On March 7th, 1988, three armed terrorists infiltrated into Israel through the Israeli-Egyptian border and managed to steal a car and drove towards the city of Dimona.
Near the city they kidnapped a bus with 11 civilian hostages on board. Of the 11 hostages 10 were women. While negotiating with the police, the terrorists executed the only male passenger in the bus.
After this it was decided to take over the bus. Two CT units were called in: Israeli Border Guard (MAGAV) Unit YAMAM and Sayeret MATKAL.
It was finally decided that of the two units, YAMAM would execute the raid.
The raid started with stun grenades being thrown inside the bus and then a YAMAM team stormed the bus and in less the 60 seconds finished the raid. All three terrorists were killed but they did manage to kill two more passengers before the entry team took them out.
This incident is one of the most famous bus hostage rescue cases in the Israeli Counter Terror (CT) history.
