seen it before, but the description seems to have been updated with more "we use this" descriptions of systems than "it will do this".
Certainly interesting... now we just need to get those damn exo-skeletons... |

I thought they ditched the land warrior cause it weighed like 28 pounds, and the lite version was around 12.

"In February 2005, the US Army decided to merge the Land Warrior ATD program with the Future Force Warrior ATD, to enable spiral development of new technologies more efficiently. The merged program is managed by General Dynamics C4 Systems."
I think it's still too much to put on top of a combat load. That and it looks like it would be stressful on the TL even more with the extra processes he has to go through. but this is just my opinion... |

No replacement for good infantry skills. better off carrying extra batteries and some linked ammo....

I don't like how the helmet is so ****ing huge and ugly looking. also it weighs a BUNCH. the cool thing about the ACH is that it feels like youre wearing a baseball cap. even the PASGT helmet gets a little annoying after half a day of wearing it.
edit: id rather wear the weight on my vest than on my head |

Could that monocular be a bit of a nuissance? I have a mental picture of a soldier walking around getting distracted by what's going on in it. Or missing a mine/sniper that was in his blindspot. When they should be keeping their eyes looking outward to maintain awareness of their immediate situation.
Maybe a reflective HUD display overlaying stuff that helps the soldier (simple markers for friendlies, simple markers for enemies) by augmenting what they see around them. Like holosights (simple, just shows where the bullets go). And very little else or you risk information overload. If you want a satellite view with intel reports, use a PDA like device, like a super GPS. The right tool that does the right job, and that's it. |

As for a reflective eyepiece (like the HUD on a fighter), I believe that's the type of system in the works with Future Force Warrior. |

Exactly, what happens if all the new recruits get trained on this, and learn to rely on it, what are they going to do when the batteries die or it breaks? |
