Default Through the eyes of a soldier in IRAQ (personal photos)

A friend of mine took a series of photos while in Iraq

His Story

"I took my 20D and 28-105mm II lens with me on my second tour of duty in Iraq. Most of these pictures are taken from a single perspective: from the top of my M3A2 Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (Bradley). When not out on foot patrol myself, I was supporting my Soldiers on the ground with direct fire support. This afforded me the opportunity to take shots of my guys in action while in the relative safety of my armored turret. Obviously, due to the security situation, I couldn't get creative with my angles or perspectives. If you know anything about how I shoot, I like to get up close and personal with my subjects, so these probably aren't the most moving combat photos. However, I did my best given the situation. I've also included shots that I was able to take when the threat of enemy contact was not likey, which was of course in the relative safety of our forward patrol base. I present to you 3rd Scout Platoon, Grim Troop, Sabre Squadron, 3rd US Cavalry b.k.a. The Blue Dragoons in Tal'Afar, Iraq..."

I can't thank you enough for your service bro! THANK YOU

absolutely awesome, they speak alot louder than those of a journalist, i dont know what he meant by the whole, not cool angles or perspectives, those were amazing, they have their own perspective, that of a real perspective.

Great pictures!

I dunno about the rest of you, but there is just something about that last pic. I guess it kinda sums up the whole mess over there, torn and battered yet still flying.

I hung out with some 3rd ACR guys when I was up in Colorado to watch the Broncos game. Apparently Fort Carson is a pretty nice post.
