Default Documentary - Typhoon-Class Nuclear Submarine (44 minutes)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...97475505544351

Hey guys,

I have had this documentary for quite a while and finally found the time to upload it.

Its a 44-minute documentary on the "Sewerstal" - a Russian nuclear submarine of the typhoon class. It was aired on German public Television (3SAT/ZDF) in 2001 and follows the crew of the vessel on a training mission in the Barents Sea.

Since the documentary is in German, I subtitled it in English (please excuse the English lapses, I was kinda tired when I subed it).

Unfortunately, due to my bad connection, I had to keep the file quite small so the quality suffered a little but I am sure the submarine enthusiasts will forgive me

Enjoy,

Inv

P.S. The documentary, like many documentaries on German TV, has a very different feel to it than many docs produced in other countries. The mood is very somber, almost nostalgic, which is incredibly hard to capture with subtitles so you will have to let the music and the voices guide your emotions *g*

The documentary was made by two Russian filmmakers I think but it aired on German TV. The translation and explanation is in German, the subtitles in English.

Greets.

Booo Its not near as cool looking inside as it is in "The Hunt for Red October" ... oh well more dreams dashed.

The bridge looks almost like they are in the Enterprise lol not a Sub, oh well I will continue to pretend its as cool as it was in the film.

At least they've got a swimming pool for the crew in the real version of the Typhoon, which they didn't in the Red October version of it.
That's pretty cool IMO .

The undubbed version of the documentary was shown on TV here in Finland a year or two years ago. Shame I didn't record it.

They renamed the submarine (TK-20) in 2001 after her sponsor, steel company Severstal. Sad and tells something about their lack of money, but at least the name is fitting (Severstal = North Steel).
